It’s definitely a working title.

Longtime readers of the Thunderblog will rememeber the 25 for 25 series I did five years ago. For those who don’t, in the 25 days leading up to my 25th birthday, I counted down every sports year (1990 through 2014). It was a fun series to write and a great way to keep myself engaged in writing whilst working my day job every day.

In the past couple years since starting the podcast, the writing aspect of this site has faltered and I’ve wanted to get back into it as a compliment to the podcast. With my 30th birthday a month away, I wanted to do another series to celebrate. I thought about revisiting the rankings I made five years ago and re-ranking them with 2015-2019 added into the ranks, but that didn’t seem right. Maybe I’ll revisit that another time.

For my 30th birthday, I will be ranking the best sports moments throughout my life. I’m calling it “The Big Three-Oh” — definitely a working title. A couple things about how these rankings will work. I don’t want to call these rules or guidelines, because some of the entries will definitely contradict some rules. I’m putting these in place to give you an idea of how I made these rankings.

This is a very SUBJECTIVE list. The 25 for 25 was as objective as possible but I’m building this list on what these moments/plays mean to me. Just remember that if there is a play you thought should have been higher up. The entries will be a combination of moments and plays. Moments I where was there in person for may get bumped up higher on the list. It is a personal ranking so I hope you respect that.

Anyway, I’m pretty excited to be doing this. #30 will be coming later today. On Instagram, I’ll be posting pictures of my favorite athletes who wore that number, similarly to what I did nine years ago in the pre-Thunderblog times.
