Getting Back on Track
The season is nearing its half way point and its time for teams to right the ship. The Bengals, Packers, and Cardinals are looking for big wins this week to ease the stress surrounding their fan bases. Just like those clubs I am looking to build a little momentum against the G-Man with my first weekly win last week. Expect to see another W from me. And so the series stands:
Matty D wins Week 6 10-5 to 8-7, G-Man leads Weekly Series: 3-1-2
G-Man Overall: 53-39
Matty D Overall: 50-42
Week 7 Cold Hard Locks
(G-Man and Matty D have same picks unless otherwise noted.)
Thursday Night Football
Chicago at Green Bay
Aaron Rodgers has looked, well average. Thankfully the Bears are worse than average. Rodgers will have to throw a lot as both Eddie Lacy and James Starks are out for this one. That leaves newly acquired Knile Davis and receivers Ty Montgomery and Randall Cobb to handle the running game. Watch out for the rookie Don Jackson though. Still like Rodgers and the Packers at home in this one.
Prediction – Packers over Bears
Sunday
1pm Slate
New York at Los Angeles
Odell Beckham is a coddled headcase. He’s still really good and the Rams have faltered of late. Waiting for the Goff era to begin, I think the G-Men get another W in this one.
Prediction – Giants over Rams
New Orleans at Kansas City
Both teams are coming off of surprising wins. But the Saints winning in a shootout is far more expected than the Chiefs blowing out the Oakland Raiders. So I am taking the Saints on the road. I want to believe and Brees and the boys and Coby Fleener has looked dynamite the last two weeks. So Saints with the minor upset.
Prediction – Saints over Chiefs
G-Man is pulling for Andy Reid and the checkdown offense.
Minnesota at Philadelphia
Hope given, hope taken away. Story of being a Philly fan. This team now looks like the one we thought we would see all year. Rookie QB with a lack of skill players and a mediocre defense. Can they rediscover those first three weeks of magic. Not against a powerful and well rested Vikings squad.
Prediction – Vikings over Eagles
Indianapolis at Tennessee
Marcus Mariota good to see you kid. The duck has played great the past two weeks and I expected another shootout in the Music City. Luck vs Mariota is what we should expect in this division for the next decade and I think this game is going to be a highlight doozie. Taking Tennessee at home.
Prediction – Titans over Colts
Buffalo at Miami
Miami surprised last week against the vaunted Pittsburgh Steelers. But Buffalo is on a roll and I don’t see that stopping this week. They are getting healthy on defense and Shady McCoy is juke stepping around defenders. Bills by two touchdowns.
Prediction – Bills over Dolphins
Washington at Detroit
The Redskins are winners of 4 in a row and look to keep surprising us. But something is happening with these Lions. Spunky group that scrapes for wins. They take out the Redskins at Ford Field to keep hanging around the playoff picture.
Prediction – Lions over Redskins
Cleveland at Cincinnati
Just what the doctor ordered for Cincy. Some tough losses in a row but a date with the hapless Browns gets Andy Dalton back on track.
Prediction – Bengals over Browns
This is Matty D’s Survival Pool Pick of the Week. It’s the Browns.
Oakland at Jacksonville
The Raiders came back down to earth and Jacksonville is starting to play tough again. Think this is another slip up by a young Oakland squad. The Jaguars defense is getting better each week.
Prediction – Jaguars over Raiders
G-Man is sticking with Oakland here.
Baltimore at New York
Geno gets what he wants. And its not gonna matter because the Jets have 4 quarterbacks on their roster and not one is starting-caliber. The Ravens need this win to hang around and are fired up from losing to the other New York team last week. Cool Joe Flacco and crew mop up what’s left of the Jets season.
Prediction – Ravens over Jets
4pm Showdowns
San Diego at Atlanta
We should see fireworks here. Philip Rivers will be dealing and Matty Ice is all the way back. Atlanta is a good team and should have won in Seattle last week. Julio Jones is cementing his status as the best in the game and I see him continuing that here. In a high scoring affair, Atlanta keeps its stranglehold on the NFC South.
Prediction – Falcons over Chargers
Tampa Bay at San Fransisco
This game is a dud. Tampa Bay has major work to do and San Fran is a dumpster fire. Taking the Buccaneers simply because of Mike Evans, he is a beast.
Prediction – Buccaneers over 49ers
New England at Pittsburgh
What a game this could have been. But with Big Ben out, the Patriots and a dominate Tom Brady shred the Steelers in the ‘Burgh. Expect to see these two playing again in a much more entertaining game come December.
Prediction – Patriots over Steelers
Sunday Night Football
Seattle at Arizona
Division rivals with much to prove on a great Sunday Night matchup. Seattle needs Kam Chancellor back to deal with David Johnson. If he is 100% I think Seattle does it. But he won’t be so I am taking the Cardinals at home. Seattle needs to find a running game to help out a hobbled Russell Wilson.
Prediction – Cardinals over Seahawks
Monday Night Football
Houston at Denver
If you like defense tune in. Otherwise this game looks to be a bunch of incomplete passes and no-gain runs. Taking Denver simply because they are at home. Hey Peyton, wanna come out of retirement?
Prediction – Broncos over Texans
