The final week. I’ve locked up the win in Year Three but Matt’s turned it up a bit in December so maybe he’ll finish strong heading into the playoff rounds. We saw a lot of seeding scenarios around the NFL coming into yesterday with one playoff spot and three division titles still up for grabs. No locks due to Matt succumbing to food poisoning (I’m thinking he stiffed his roommate/muscle/personal chef on the year-end bonus so JRod retaliated).
Week 17 Cold Hard FAILS
By now you’ve seen the scores so I’m going to show who we picked…
Eagles squeeze 35-30 win over Giants – We both picked the Eagles: 1-0 G-Man/1-0 Matty D – The first post-Chip game had its ups and downs but the Birds pulled it out. Say what you about the firing, but it’s nice to see the Eagles end the season on a win; even if it means they have to travel to Seattle next year.
Bills knock off Jets 22-17 – I picked New York while Matt picked Buffalo: 1-1 G-Man/2-0 Matty D – Technically the Bills didn’t “knock off” the Jets (we’ll cover that) but somehow Rex Ryan found a way to keep New York out of the playoffs.
Dolphins beat Pats 20-10 – We both picked New England: 1-2 G-Man/2-1 Matty D – New England comes into the playoffs cold but does earn a first-round bye.
Saints sweep Falcons 20-17 – I picked New Orleans and Matt picked Atlanta: 2-2 G-Man/2-2 Matty D
Bengals down Ravens 24-16 – We both picked Cincy: 3-2 G-Man/3-2 Matty D
Steelers rock Browns 28-12 – We both picked Pittsburgh: 4-2 G-Man/4-2 Matty D – Coupled with the Jets’ loss to the Bills, the Steelers return to the playoffs. In probably the best matchup this weekend, Pittsburgh travels to division rival Cincinnati
Texans thump Jags 30-6 – We both picked Houston: 5-2 G-Man/5-2 Matty D – Houston clinches the AFC South
Colts edge Titans 30-24 – We both picked Indy: 6-2 G-Man/6-2 Matty D
Redskins down Cowboys 34-23 – We both picked Washington: 7-2 G-Man/7-2 Matty D
Lions edge Bears 24-20 for 3rd in the North — We both picked Chicago: 7-3 G-Man/7-3 Matty D
Panthers crush Bucs 38-10 – We both picked the Panthers: 8-3 G-Man/8-3 Matty D – Panthers clinch home-field in a necessary bounce-back game
Chiefs beat Raiders 23-17 – We both picked KC: 9-3 G-Man/9-3 Matty D
Broncos down Chargers 27-20 — We both picked Denver: 10-3 G-Man/10-3 Matty D – Broncos clinch home-field in the AFC Playoffs
Seahawks soar by Cards 36-6 — We both picked Arizona: 10-4 G-Man/10-4 Matty D – Seattle is probably the scariest team entering the playoffs.
49ers edge Rams 19-16 in OT – I picked San Francisco while Matt picked St. Louis: 11-4 G-Man/10-5 Matty D
Vikings hold off Packers 20-13 – We both picked Green Bay – Minnesota wins the NFC North
G-Man wins Week 17 11-5 to 10-6, G-Man wins Weekly Series 11-5-1
G-Man Overall: 152-104
Matty D Overall: 146-110

I came. I saw. I conquered. MPD didn’t stand a chance in Year Three. He’s calling his shot now saying next year is “The Year of the Truth.” Just remember who has won both FULL seasons Matty D. Two YEARS to one. Can’t beat those numbers. Speaking of numbers, I have a fun follow up post with our final tallies and our overall accuracy coming to you all very soon.
