COLD HARD LOCKS WEEK 5

“Well this past football Sunday could not have gone worse for me. My beloved Eagles lost in heartbreaking fashion and I got to enjoy all 3 of my fantasy teams implode before my eyes. Add to the top of that as G-Man kicked my ass in the picks 10-5 to 8-7. Ouch”

That was the original opening. Then the weekend happened and well, the locks are late. But better than ever so without further ado, hear is what I thought was going to happen this weekend.

Current Breakdown:

Weekly Series Tied 2-2

Overall: G-Man 39-23, Matty D 38-24

Thursday Night Football

Colts at Texans

Who is playing quarterback for the Colts? Who is playing quarterback for the Texans? Yeah I’m sure the NFL is excited for this one. I’ll take a JJ Watt play as the difference. But hey its opening night for the NHL!

Houston over Indianapolis

Browns at Ravens

Baltimore is playing for a Wild Card spot as the Bengals zoom ahead in the division. The Browns are a pesky bunch and the Ravens have zero receivers left (Chris Givens? Really?) yet I see them somehow scrapping one together here. Unless Johnny Football starts…

Baltimore over Cleveland

Rams at Packers

Who is picking against Aaron Rodgers? Seriously, they are the Patriots of the NFC. Or is it the other way around? Anyway sorry Rams you simply don’t have enough to beat the Packers, especially in Lambeau. The bigger question, will Rodgers finally throw an interception at home?

Green Bay over St Louis

Bills at Titans

The Bills really put up a stinker last week. I was surprised but it showed that Tyrod Taylor may not be an average starter. Also doesn’t help when your running back core is down to Boobie Dixon and Trent Richardson is getting a workout with the squad. I am going with young Marcus and the upstart Titans here.

Tennessee over Buffalo

G-Man went Bills here. He was right…

Saints at Eagles

So can I do it? Can I pick against my beloved hometown heroes? No because the Saints don’t have much of a defense and we somehow do. I liked enough of what I saw last week and am convinced we start looking like an average team this week. #firechip dies down for at least one week.

Philadelphia over New Orleans

Redskins at Falcons

Kirk Cousins is actually showing flashes of not being a sucky QB. That alone is a big development. And so here come the hogs, riding into the Georgia Dome to face off against the UNDEFEATED Falcons. Expect Julio Jones and Devonta Freeman to have huge days and an overachieving Falcons defense to suffocate the Redskins. The Falcons complete the NFC East sweep and keep pace with the Panthers in the South.

Atlanta over Washington

Seattle at Cincinnati

This is easily the game of the week. On one hand, Seattle looks like the Hawks of old with Chancellor back. Cincy looks like the second best team in the AFC behind New England. Quite the showdown as Andy Dalton looks to stay red-hot against the Legion of Boom. Seattle is far more vulnerable to a bad offensive day, especially with Beast Mode hobbled. Look for an underrated Bengals D to feast on Wilson and the porous offensive line of Seattle.

Bengals over Seahawks

Bears at Chiefs

Finally the Chiefs had a wide receiver catch a TD pass. Look for them to get a few more here in an easy win against the hapless Bears.

Kansas City over Chicago

Jaguars at Buccaneers

Another interstate showdown as Blake Bortles and friends zip down the panhandle to the strip club capital of the world. The Jags are playing good football this year and I like the way they are headed. But Jamies Winston is wildly inconsistent, so naturally I see him having a good day this weekend and eking out a win as even Doug Martin has returned to relevance.

Tampa Bay over Jacksonville

Cardinals at Lions

Poor Detroit. This team really isn’t the worst in the league, regardless of their lack of any win total. Chalk it up to many different factors but talent is still littered across this roster. And after last week, I don’t see the Lions playing happy football. In come the visiting Cardinals who finally slipped up last week but have looked like a real contender. Just happen to think that the Lions need this win a little more and the Motor City has seen enough losers recently.

Detroit over Arizona

G-Man took the Cardinals here, I look the the Stafford of Pick’Ems at the moment.

Patriots at Cowboys

Wouldn’t matter if Romo and Bryant were playing, Brady and company are too much. Pats stay as the class of the NFL

New England over Cowboys

Broncos at Raiders

It’s weird to see a Peyton Manning team led by defense not offense, but that is certainly the case this year. No running game isn’t helping Manning but a swarming defense with an elite pass rush is going to make Derrick Carr miserable. Look for a tighter than expected win for the Broncos.

Denver over Oakland

49ers at Giants

The 49ers are a mess and Kaepernick looks beyond lost. The Giants are just component enough to take this home victory.

New York over San Fransisco

Steelers at Chargers

Great Monday Night matchup dimmed slightly by the Big Ben injury. Still should be an exciting game but look for Melvin Gordon and Keenan Allen to lead the way for the Wildcard contending Chargers

San Diego over Pittsburgh
