After a week off, the FAILS return! Matty D and I are all knotted up at 18-14 (1-1 weekly) which is somehow in ESPN’s 89th percentile coming into Week 3. The Birds finally won, let’s see how everything else turned out.
Week 3 Cold Hard FAILS
Here are our Picks if you missed them
Giants beat Redskins 32-21 – The Giants came into this one desperately needing a W. They’d blown two large leads in weeks one and two and wanted to redeem themselves in front of the nation. ODB did just that as he caught one of Eli’s two touchdown passes and the Giants helped make the NFC East tighter.
Matty D picked New York while I went with Washington: 1-0 Matty D/0-1 G-Man
Falcons soar over Cowboys 39-28 – Julius Randle tried to put the injured Cowboys on his back scoring two TDs early but Devonta Freeman and Julio Jones reminded Dallas who they were dealing with. Jones has 440 yards and 4 TDs on 34 receptions through three games; that’s a pace for 2,346 yards and 21 TDs.
We both picked Atlanta: 2-0 Matty D/1-1 G-Man
Bengals edge Ravens 28-24 – This game was a shootout as the two teams combined for 734 passing yards but only a combined 122 on the ground. Andy Dalton’s four total TDs carried the Bengals to a 3-0 start as the Ravens fall to 0-3.
I picked Cincy while Matty D picked Baltimore: 2-1 Matty D/2-1 G-Man
Raiders down Browns 27-20 – Matt called Amari Cooper having a big day but it was RB Latavius Murray who helped propel Oakland at the Dawg Pound with 139 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Matty D picked Oakland while I picked Cleveland: 3-1 Matty D/2-2 G-Man
Colts rally over Titans 35-33 – The doubting of Andrew Luck and the coming of Marcus Mariotta prophecies seemed to be coming head-to-head as the Titans lead 27-14 going into the 4th quarter, but Luck reminded us why he’s the real next big QB. The Titans were close to tying it up at the end missed the two-point conversion as the Colts finally pull out a W.
We both picked Indy: 4-1 Matty D/3-2 G-Man
Vikings run over Chargers 31-14 – Correction: Adrian Peterson ran over the Chargers. Matt was correct in disapproving of Teddy Bridgewater both forgot about AD.
We both picked San Diego: 4-2 Matty D/3-3 G-Man
Steelers survive Rams 12-6 – I say that mainly because the Steelers lost Big Ben but the return of Le’Veon Bell was big for Pittsburgh. Todd Gurley made his NFL debut but was limited to six rushes and one reception for a grand total of 14 yards.
Matty D went with Pittsburgh to appease his sublettor/roommate/muscle/president while I believed in the Rams D: 5-2 Matty D/3-4 G-Man
Pats dismantle Jags 51-17 – Matt in the Locks: “You’d be dumb to pick against Brady.” His man-crush aside, the Pats scored point on EVERY drive aside from their last when Tommy took a knee to run out the clock.
It’s obvious who we both picked: 6-2 Matty D/4-4 G-Man
Panther down Saints 27-22 – Cam Newton is looking like Superman again. His three total touchdowns and 348 total yards propelled the Panthers over the Brees-less Saints.
We both picked Carolina: 7-2 Matty D/5-4 G-Man
Eagles FLY over Jets 24-17 – YEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!! Everyone doubted them. Said they were overrated. DARREN! BRADFORD! (kind of) BUT THE DEFENSE! THE DEFENSE! THREE PICKS!!!
The non-biased writer in me is also impressed with how the Birds looked. Although the 4th quarter semi-foot-off-the-gas-play does concern me a bit but playing the Redskins this weekend is another good opportunity for the Eagles.
Again, out picks are obvious: 8-2 Matty D/6-4 G-Man
Texans beat Bucs 19-9 – Alfred Blue had himself a DAY against the Bucs rushing for 139 yard and a touchdown. DeAndre Hopkins also a great day for Houston catching for 101 yards and a touchdown.
We both picked Houston: 9-2 Matty D/7-4 G-Man
Cardinals dominate 49ers 47-7 – This game was over fast as Kaepernick threw two early pick-sixes.
We both picked Arizona: 10-2 Matty D/8-4 G-Man
Bills squish Dolphins 41-14 – What is going on? Tyrod Taylor had three touchdowns. The three interceptions from the Bills’ D I could definitely see, but Taylor is a force to be watched.
We boh picked Buffalo: 11-2 Matty D/9-4 G-Man
Seahawks shutout Bears 26-0 – Every expected it; not too much else to say aside from the fake punt return once again being awesome.
Everyone expected it: 12-2 Matty D/10-4 G-Man
Broncos down Lions 24-12 – Matt even acknowledged how good the Broncos D is, they rocked Matthew Stafford into three turnovers. Can’t go against Peyton in prime time.
I picked Denver while Matt picked Detroit: 12-3 Matty D/11-4 G-Man
Packers rock Chiefs 38-28 – Never doubt Aaron Rodgers at home. The Pack was just dominant throughout this with Rodgers hitting those receivers in perfect stride on almost every throw.
We both picked Green Bay:
Matty D Wins Week 3 13-3/12-4; Moves to 2-1 on season
Matty D Overall: 31-17
G-Man Overall: 30-18
Well Matt pulls this week out but we finally look like we know what we’re talking about. I’ll chalk that up as a small victory but I’ll take the Birds winning every week. Mondays aren’t as horrible when the Eagles win, even Doctor Dan would agree.
