Week 1 was tough, I had to bring back Waldo. The Eagles lost and I went 1-4 between all my fantasy teams, let’s see if I can defend my title against Matty D in our weekly pick’em.
Week 1 Cold Hard FAILS
Here are our Picks if you missed them
Pats down Steelers 28-21 – The Steelers weren’t expecting Tom Brady to return but the Golden Boy came out swinging. Brady connected to Gronk three times as the Pats win the first game of the 2015 NFL Season.
We both picked New England: 1-0 G-Man/1-0 Matty D
Chiefs topple Texans 27-20 – Similarly to the Patriots, Alex Smith and the Chiefs utilized their tight end, Travis Kelce, early as KC jumped out to an big early lead. The Texans would finish the game scoring 14 unanswered but Kansas City takes it.
G-Man picked KC with Matt taking Houston: 2-0 G-Man/1-1 Matty D
Bills shock Colts 27-14 – Yikes. No one saw this one coming, expect maybe Matty D to certain degree in the Locks: “I hope Indy isn’t sleeping here. Rex Ryan give the Bills a little punch and I see the game being close early.” We both picked the Colts though.
We both picked Indy: 2-1 G-Man/1-2 Matty D
Packers beat Bears 31-23 – The Pack brought back veteran WR James Jones to help fill in for the injured Jordy (spell your name right) Nelson. The rebuilding Bears did see an outstanding performance out of Matt Forte (141 rushing yards and 1 touchdown) but Aaron Rodgers moved to 13-3 in his career against the Bears.
We both picked Green Bay: 3-1 G-Man/2-2 Matty D
Panthers pounce Jags 20-9 – Get it? Cause they’re both cats! The main takeaway from this game was the ref getting blasted on one play as Cam Netwon did not impress in his first game since signing his big five-year contract.
We both picked Carolina: 4-1 G-Man/3-2 Matty D
Jets throttle Browns 31-10 – The Johnny Football era has begun in Cleveland. Manziel did throw an impressive touchdown but this was the Chris Ivory show for the Jets. Ivory rushed for 91 yards and two touchdowns in my idiot pick of the week.
G-Man went the Browns while Matty D was smart and picked New York: 4-2 G-Man/4-2 Matty D
Dolphins beat Redskins 17-10 – The Phins fell down 10-0 to Washington early but was able to edge out Washington due to a late punt return touchdown by Jarvis Landry. Washington WR Desean Jackson left the game in the first quarter with a hamstring injury and is scheduled to be out 3-4 weeks.
We both picked Miami: 5-2 G-Man/5-2 Matty D
Rams edge Seahawks 34-31 (OT) – Matt picked the Rams here mainly due to the hold out of KAM Chancellor. Matt misspelled his name with a “C” in the Locks post, that’s almost enough to disqualify his genius pick.
G-Man picked Seattle while Matty D picked Seattle: 5-3 G-Man/6-2 Matty D
Chargers rally over Lions 33-28 – It seemed like the Lions were charging to a BIG Week 1 victory as they lead 21-3 in the second quarter. Phillip Rivers proved his extension was worth the payout improving on his two picks to finish with 404 passing yards and two touchdowns.
We both picked Detroit: 5-4 G-Man/6-3 Matty D
Cardinals down Saints 31-19 – In the matchup of two gunslingers, Carson Palmer’s 307 yards and three TDs edged out Drew Brees’ 355 yards and 1 TD. Palmer moves to 14-2 in his last 16 starts as he returned from injury but Arizona lost RB Andre Ellington to a right knee injury.
We both picked Arizona: 6-4 G-Man/7-3 Matty D
Bengals dominate Raiders 33-13 – Matty D predicted the Raiders’ points, but underestimated the Bengals. Andy Dalton led his team with 269 yards and tossed two TDs to Tyler Eifert while RB Jeremy Hill rushed in two TDs as well.
We both picked Cincy: 7-4 G-Man/8-3 Matty D
Broncos beat Ravens 19-13 – Beat may be a generic synonym for “defeat” by it’s certainly applicable here as neither Joe Flacco nor Peyton Manning tossed a touchdown; well offensive touchdown, they both threw pick-sixes in this defensive showdown.
We both picked Denver: 8-4 G-Man/9-3 Matty D
Titans CRUSH Bucs 42-14 – Welcome to the league misters Mariotta and Winston. Marcus had a big day throwing four touchdowns while Jameis threw two of his own but threw two picks and was sacked four times. Titans RB Bishop Sankey had a big week as well catching and rushing for a touchdown.
G-Man picked Tennessee while Matty D picked Tampa Bay: 9-4 G-Man/9-4 Matty D
Cowboys edge Giants 27-26 and Falcons edge Eagles 26-24 – I don’t want to relive either of these games.
We both picked Dallas and the Eagles in these two: 10-5 G-Man/10-5 Matty D
49ers defeat Vikings 20-3 – Well everyone was waiting to see AP’s return, and we may have to wait another week to really see it as he only had 10 carries for 31 yards. San Fran RB Carlos Hyde stole the show rushing for 168 yards and two touchdowns
We both picked Minnesota: 10-6 G-Man/10-6 Matty D
Well we end the first week of our rubber match season in a tie, something we’re both familiar with as we tied six times last season. Frankly the fact we were able to get to ten picks is astonishing considering how rough Week 1 went for all parties involved, but that’s why we’re the Knowledge and the Truth.
CORRECTION: As I am currently making my Week 2 picks, I noticed I had 11 points on our ESPN group; I had picked the Niners over the Vikings. I win Week 1 11-5 to 10-6.
Tune back Thursday for Week 2’s Cold Hard Locks as one of us looks to get a leg up. I’ll be down at the Linc Sunday to watch the Birds dominate the Cowboys.
