Well talk about your big fails, it took me three months, but the Cold Hard Fails are finally back. It’s been a while since we’ve provided our expert opinions on all matters football, let’s recap:
In one of our weaker efforts, Matty D takes the cake 9-5 to my 7-7. Matty D now leads the weekly series 4-2-5, 101-48 to my 96-53 overall.
Week 12:
We were a little busy watching our Mountain Hawks get run over at Yankee Stadium to post our picks but we still made them! Or rather, I still did. Due to his lack of picks, I win Week 12 by default, taking the weekly series to 4-3-5. I went 11-4 on the week, bringing my total to 107-57.
Week 13:
AGAIN, Matty D was too busy eating turkey and watching the Birds fly circles around the Cowboys to make his picks. I take Week 13 again by default tying up the season series 4-4-5, going 11-5 in the process. My total is 118-62 going into Week 14.
Note: To keep the totals fair, as Matt would have probably done well in the weeks he forget to pick, he gets the same score as me while I win the week. Matty D’s total: 123-57.
Now that we’re caught up, on to the Week 14 Cold Hard Fails:
Thursday Night Football: Cowboys down Bears 41-28 – Why Matt didn’t pick the Cowboys is beyond me. Tony Romo and the ‘Boys were looking to avenge a poor performance against our Eagles and the Bears didn’t really stand a chance. DeMarco Murray ran up and down the field for 179 yards.
G-Man: Cowboys
Matty D: Bears
G-Man leads 1-0 to 0-1
Sunday:
Steelers double up Bengals 42-21 – A costly turnover in the fourth quarter by Andy Dalton with the 21-20 lead swung the moment to the Steelers as they scored three-straight TDs including a 94-yard reception by Martavis Bryant. Le’Veon Bell showed he doesn’t need his buddy Legarrette Blount as he gained 235 combined rushing and receiving yards with three TDs.
Both: Bengals
G-Man leads 1-1 to 0-2
Colts squeak by Browns late 25-24 – Andrew Luck knows how to get the job done. He also knows how to fix his mistakes. Luck accounted for 3 TDs and 3 turnovers but his late TD pass to T.Y. Hilton was what put Indy on top. The Johnny Football era begins in Cleveland next week.
Both: Colts
G-Man leads 2-1 to 1-2
Lions blast Bucs 34-17 – Matthew Stafford continues to put together another great season passing for 311 yards and 3 TDs, one to Megatron, as the Lions look to keep pace with the Packers (see below). Vincent Jackson received 159 yards for Tampa Bay, so that’s good for them …I guess?
Both: Lions
G-Man leads 3-1 to 2-2
Giants rock Titans 36-7 – See what I did there with “rock?” Odell Beckham Jr. is making a STRONG ROY case, posting 130 yards and a touchdown on 11 receptions, Derp-li’s only TD pass on the day while fellow NYG Andre Williams rushed for 131 and a TD for himself. I think Matty D and I both owe Doctor Dan an apology…
Both: Titans
G-Man leads 3-2 to 2-3
Rams blank Redskins 24-0 – No one ticket prices dropped to only five bucks. This game was UGLY. No wonder RGIII is punting balls to himself in practice.
Both: Rams
G-Man leads 4-2 to 3-3
Ravens surge by Dolphins 28-13 – Justin Forsett has stepped up big time this year. Forsett ran for 71 yards and a touchdown as a part of Baltimore’s 183 yards on the ground. The ‘Phins continue to have an up-and-down year at home, as they fall to 3-3 at Sun Life Stadium.
Both: Dolphins
G-Man leads 4-3 to 3-4
Vikings edge Jets 30-24 in OT – TEDDY!!! Teddy Bridgewater passed for 309 yards, 2 TDs, and a pick but his 87-yard, game-winner to Jarius Wright gives fans everywhere in the Lake of a Thousand Lakes so much to look forward to in the future. The Jets ground game remained strong as Chris Ivory and Chris Johnson combined for 126 yards.
Both: Vikings
G-Man leads 5-3 to 4-4
Panthers crush Saints 41-10 – In the Dome!? How? Seriously, the Panthers have had this potential all season and it has finally emerged. It’s not even too late yet. Despite being 4-8-1, the Panthers are only a half game out of first place in the NFC South. It may be just a dream now after Cam Newton’s car accident today, we all wish him a speedy recovery.
Both: Saints
G-Man leads 5-4 to 4-5
Texans down Jags 27-13 – Well this was obvious. Nor do JJ Watt’s three sacks surprise me.
Both: Texans
G-Man leads 6-4 to 5-5
Broncos defeat Bills 24-17 – Matty D also called the upset as Peyton Manning wasn’t the center piece in this one. CJ Anderson took over this game with three touchdowns, 58 yards on 21 rush attempts.
G-Man: Broncos
Matty D: Bills
G-Man leads 7-4 to 5-6
Cardinals edge Chiefs 17-14 – Jamaal Charles almost single-handedly won this game for the Chiefs but Drew Stanton continues to surprise everyone by leading the Cards to another victory.
G-Man: Cardinals
Matty D: Chiefs
G-Man leads 8-4 to 5-7
Raiders shock 49ers 24-13 – Derek Carr passed for three TDs and Sebastian Janikowski kicked a 57-yard FG, it doesn’t get much better for the Raiders. Add on this being over their Bay Area rival, the Raiders may not need to win again until the next time they meet the Niners (which will be in four years…). We may be witnessing the beginning of the end of the Jim Harbaugh era in San Fran.
Both: 49ers
G-Man leads 8-5 to 5-8
Seahawks beat Eagles 24-14 – The Eagles just never got it going. Gotta get it together for the Sunday Night Showdown against the Cowboys this week.
Both: Eagles
G-Man leads 8-6 to 5-9
Patriots down Chargers 23-14 – GRONK SMASH CHARGERS! Gronk’s 86 yards may have been second behind Julian Edelman’s 141 but Gronk’s abilities are what Tommy Terrific needs to make a Super Bowl. And let’s not discount the Chargers here, they’re still a very dangerous playoff contender. Bill Belichick just knows how to prepare.
Both: Patriots (like Matt would really pick against his man-crush)
G-Man leads 9-6 to 6-9
Monday Night Football Packers beat Falcons 43-37 – Aaron Rodgers hasn’t thrown an interception at Lambeau Field since 2012. As great as Matt Ryan played and how the Falcons actually made it a game in the second half, Rodgers will discount double check, pump you up, and R-E-L-A-X his way to victory all day at Lambeau. In all honesty, the way the Pack plays at home, it’ll take some kind of miracle for them to lose there in the playoffs.
Both: Packers
G-Man wins Week 14 10-6 to 7-9
G-Man leads the weekly series 5-4-5
Matty D leads the overall pick’em: 130-66 to 128-64
BOOM!
That’s right! A big statement needed to made and there it was! This begins my march to victory in Year 2. Leaving nothing to chance now, need to keep it rolling into Week 15.
