Matty D’s Beer Corner
Long Days of Summer
It might be a fridge-essential, a tailgate hit, the perfect Beirut can, or an off-the-beaten-path brew. Maybe it came from a large production company, a local microbrewery, or from over the oceans.
The only common denominator is that it has to be beer. So crack open that cold one in your hand and listen in, maybe just maybe I’ll sway you onto your new favorite American pastime.
Beer of the Week:
Victory Summer Love Ale
This first post starts a series of this summer’s best seasonal beers. The summer is one of the top 4 seasons to drink beer and there are plenty of great ones to choose from. I will start out first with my favorite of the bunch. I am a big fan of Victory Brewing and they have come through with their great Summer Love Ale. It was brewed specifically with my home city of Philadelphia in mind and I can’t stop enjoying it as I saunter through the beer garden on the Delaware and enjoy Center City Sips.
Like all great summer brews, it is light and cheerful toping out at 5.2% ABV. You can taste the malt but it is far from overwhelming. The beer ends with a touch of lemon but nothing too strong stopping short of say a Lemon Shandy. It is the perfect beer for a perfect summer day in the city. So enjoy it just as you are enjoying your Saturday day drinking after brunch.
If any readers or tweeters have any advice on beers to spotlight, give my a shout. Remember, America was built on beer and don’t let anyone tell you differently.
Never stop being merry!
