Your morning shot of hockey to go with your coffee.
February 3rd, 2014
Busy weekend around the league, I went 2-1 on my picks from Friday to put me at 65-61 on the season. The Flyers shut out the LA Kings on Saturday afternoon 2-0. This was a key victory as the Olympic break looms and with the team traveling to San Jose tonight. Much like in Anaheim, the HP Pavilion, or the Shark Tank, is a place where the Sharks rarely lose. The Flyers will need to play much better than they did last Thursday if they want to have a chance tonight. They’ll need to make the tape-to-tape passes they made against the Kings, just like they did for Wayne Simmonds’ 100th career goal (see below). You catch this tonight at 10:30 on the Comcast Network.
GAMES TONIGHT:
Six other games around the NHL tonight. One game to keep an eye out for is the Chicago Blackhawks visiting the Los Angeles Kings at 10:30. Blackhawks over Kings: LA has had a scoring issue as of late and has been very cold going 2-7-1 in their last ten games. Chicago hasn’t been much hotter going 4-2-4 but they have regained first place in the Central Division. Nonetheless, the #1 offense faces off with the #2 defense at the Staples Center tonight and it should be a great game featuring some of the better players we’ll see in Sochi.
