Tennessee’s last win over a ranked team was in 2009 against South Carolina, until today. After Steve Spurrier attempted to get the Vols’ defense to go offsides twice, Tennessee came down the field and kicked a field goal to upset the eleventh ranked Gamecocks 23-21. The final drive was fueled by an outstanding catch by Freshman Wide Receiver Marquez North in double coverage.
With the loss, combined with a Missouri win over Florida, drops South Carolina to two games back in the SEC East.
USC QB Connor Shaw went down with an apparent knee injury in the fourth quarter after being sacked. All of us here at the Thunderblog are hoping for a speedy recovery.
