Seven points. I WAS SEVEN POINTS AWAY FROM CALLING THIS! So close, yet so far. But if this is any indication about how I’ll fair tomorrow with my NFL picks, Matty D is going down.
While I was almost right about the points. I was wrong about the stats for my Mountain Hawks. Brandon Bialkowski went 26 for 36 with 299 passing yards and a touchdown. Almost 300 but his streak of consecutive games with at least 300 passing yards or more was snapped. As was WR Lee Kurfis’ streak of consecutive games with at least 100 receiving yards; he caught seven passing for 77 yards and eclipsed 1000 receiving yards for the season. I was wrong about those streaks continuing but it was the ground game that carried Lehigh, which I love to see. Senior RB Keith Sherman had 133 rushing yards and a touchdown while fellow senior Sean Farrell had four carries for twelve yards and THREE TOUCHDOWNS. BOOM! The Defense was once again a no fly zone, only letting the Hoyas gain 140 yards in the air. The Hoyas were able to gain 229 yards on the ground though, so that aspect of Lehigh’s defense needs to tighten up. The Mountain Hawks will have a great opportunity to do so next week against a 2-4 Bucknell Bison team out in Lewisburg. Check back here later this week for a preview of this Patriot League Showdown.
